How do I create my first expense?

There are several ways to add expenses in BudgieAI:

  • Voice Entry: Tap the microphone and say "Coffee at Starbucks for $5.50"
  • Manual Entry: Tap the "+" button and fill in the details
  • Quick Add: Use the floating action button on the home screen

How do I set up a trip?

To create a new trip:

  1. Go to the "Trips" tab
  2. Tap "Create New Trip"
  3. Enter your destination, dates, and budget
  4. Select your trip currency
  5. Tap "Create Trip" to start tracking

What currencies are supported?

BudgieAI supports over 150 currencies including:

  • All major currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, etc.)
  • Southeast Asian currencies (THB, VND, PHP, IDR, etc.)
  • South Asian currencies (INR, NPR, LKR, PKR, etc.)
  • European currencies (CHF, NOK, SEK, PLN, etc.)
  • And many more regional currencies

🎤 Voice Recognition

How does voice recognition work?

BudgieAI uses advanced AI to understand your spoken expenses. Simply say phrases like:

  • "Coffee at Starbucks for $5.50"
  • "Dinner at Thai restaurant 250 baht"
  • "Bus ticket to Bangkok 15 dollars"
  • "Hotel accommodation 2000 yen"

The AI will automatically extract the amount, currency, merchant, and suggest a category.

What languages are supported?

Currently, voice recognition supports English. We're working on adding more languages based on user feedback.

Voice recognition isn't working properly

If voice recognition isn't working well:

  • Check your microphone permissions in Settings
  • Speak clearly and at a normal pace
  • Ensure you're in a quiet environment
  • Try using the format: "[Item] at [Place] for [Amount] [Currency]"
  • Make sure you have a stable internet connection

💱 Currency & Exchange Rates

How do live exchange rates work? (Premium)

Premium users get access to live exchange rates that:

  • Update daily with real market rates
  • Ensure consistency - all expenses on the same day use the same rate
  • Provide accurate currency conversions for over 150 currencies
  • Cache rates daily so your totals always match individual expense conversions

Why don't my expense totals match the sum of individual expenses?

This usually happens with free users using static exchange rates. Premium users get daily cached rates that ensure perfect consistency. Free users see approximate conversions that may vary slightly.

How do I change my preferred currency?

To change your display currency:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap "Preferred Currency"
  3. Select your new currency
  4. All expenses will be converted to this currency for display

✈️ Trip Management

How do I switch between trips?

To switch your active trip:

  1. Go to the "Trips" tab
  2. Tap on the trip you want to activate
  3. Tap "Set as Active Trip"
  4. New expenses will now be added to this trip

Can I collaborate with other travelers? (Premium)

Yes! Premium users can collaborate on trips:

  • Generate a join code from your trip settings
  • Share the join code with travel companions via SMS, WhatsApp, or any messaging app
  • Others can join your trip by entering the code
  • Track shared expenses automatically
  • Split costs between group members
  • See real-time updates from all participants

How do I set a budget for my trip?

When creating or editing a trip:

  1. Enter your total budget amount
  2. Select the budget currency
  3. BudgieAI will track your spending against this budget
  4. Get notifications when you're approaching your limit

☁️ Cloud Backup & Sync (Premium)

How do I enable cloud backup?

To enable cloud backup:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap "Sign in with Apple"
  3. Complete the Apple Sign In process
  4. Your data will automatically backup to the cloud
  5. Install BudgieAI on other devices and sign in to sync

How do I restore my data on a new device?

To restore your data:

  1. Install BudgieAI on your new device
  2. Sign in with the same Apple ID
  3. Go to Settings → Cloud Backup
  4. Tap "Restore from Cloud"
  5. Your trips and expenses will be restored

Is my data secure?

Yes! Your data is:

  • Encrypted during transmission and storage
  • Backed up securely to your personal iCloud
  • Only accessible with your Apple ID
  • Never shared with third parties
  • Processed according to our Privacy Policy

Premium subscribers get:

How do I upgrade to Premium?

To upgrade:

  1. Open BudgieAI
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tap "Upgrade to Premium"
  4. Choose your subscription plan
  5. Complete the purchase through the App Store

Can I cancel my Premium subscription?

Yes, you can cancel anytime:

  1. Go to iPhone Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions
  2. Find BudgieAI in the list
  3. Tap "Cancel Subscription"
  4. You'll keep premium features until the current period ends

🔧 Troubleshooting

The app is crashing or freezing

If you're experiencing crashes:

  1. Force close the app and reopen it
  2. Restart your iPhone
  3. Update to the latest version from the App Store
  4. Ensure you have sufficient storage space
  5. Contact support if the issue persists

My expenses aren't syncing between devices

For sync issues:

  • Make sure you're signed in with Apple on both devices
  • Check your internet connection
  • Go to Settings → Cloud Backup and tap "Sync Now"
  • Wait a few minutes for sync to complete
  • Contact support if sync still doesn't work

I can't find a specific currency

If your currency isn't listed:

  • Try searching by currency code (e.g., "USD", "EUR")
  • Contact us at budgieaiexpense@gmail.com to request new currencies
  • We regularly add new currencies based on user requests
